IMPORTANT: Please supply your preferred length when you order. Guidance below.
This light strap comes in 1.5mm thick leather, giving strength and flexibility. Available for both F-shape and A-shape mandolins, all have a 3/16" strap-pin hole to fit the tail pin. No metal parts.
June 2016: Recently improved with double-thickness leather around pin holes.
Developed with long-time player Ivan Kelsall for his three mandolins, it's suitable for use over the shoulder or round the body. Ivan's comment: "The leather is really soft & pliable without being ‘floppy’ & despite being only a 1/2” wide, feels very comfortable in use. I won’t need any other straps for a long while."
Choose your style in the options:
F-style: Has a sewn loop for the F-scroll. This loop is 5" long when flat.
A-style 1: Has quarter-inch strap-pin holes at each end of the strap. Choose this if you have a strap-pin where the neck meets the body, as well as at the tailpiece.
A-style 2: Has a 12" long leather thong tied to the front end. Choose this if you like to tie the strap to the headstock with a thong or lace.
A-style 3: Has a 4" openable loop tied with short thong. Choose this if you like to loop the end of the strap around the headstock and tie it to itself.
A-style 4: Has a 15" openable loop tied with short thong. Choose this if you like to loop the end of the strap around the body where it meets the neck, and under the floating fretboard.
This strap is custom made to order with little adjustment length, other than two pin holes at one end, 2" (5 cm) apart. Please supply your preferred length when you order.
The best way to work out the length is to get a piece of string and make yourself a mock-up strap from that. Then lay it out flat on a table and measure the total length. The loop for an F-shape mando should be 10" long (25.5cm). When you order, type the required length into the Order Comments box on the Checkout page.
Comes supplied with a cotton gift bag and a free pick holder key-ring.

Please note that leather is an organic material and has the naturally occurring marks of any genuine animal skin: this is part of its natural beauty. Where hair-on cowhide is part of the design, we have carefully chosen the pattern that will appear on every piece, and provide customers with options in terms of the balance of brown, white etc.
